HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's soccer team hits the road for the first time in 2006 on Sunday, taking on Louisville in a 1 p.m. contest at Cardinal Park. The Thundering Herd comes in with momentum after a 4-1 win over Manhattan Friday night at Sam Hood Field.

Karim Boukhemis (Sr., Huntington, W.Va.) scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Herd. Clayton Cochrane (Sr., Morrisville, Pa.), Avneet Shergill (Jr., Vancouver, Wash.) and JD Hill (Fr., Columbus, Ohio) added goals in the convincing win.

Marshall jumped out to an 2-0 lead early before Manhatttan cut the lead in half with just under two minutes remaining. The Herd quickly responded as Boukehmis and Hill posted goals in a 49-second span to put the game away.

Louisville squandered a 3-0 second-half lead in a 4-3 overtime defeat to Memphis Friday at home in both teams' season opener. David Guzman had two goals for the Cardinals. The game marked the Louisville debut for head coach Ken Lolla. He is 209-86-27 in 17 years as a head coach.

Marshall leads the all-time series between the two programs, 4-2. The schools last met in 1997, with the Herd taking a 3-1 victory at Sam Hood Field in Huntington.

Marshall continues its road swing next weekend as it competes in the Xavier Tournament in Cincinnati. The Herd battles Western Illinois at 5 p.m. Friday and DePaul at noon Sunday.
