Marshall Volleyball Readies for WVU

HUNTINGTON - The Marshall Thundering Herd volleyball team (8-6, 1-0 C-USA) will be taking on intrastate rival West Virginia (1-12) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19 in Charleston, W.Va. at the Civic Center.

The Herd has beaten the Mountaineers four consecutive times to retain the "Golden Ball" traveling trophy. All-time the series favors WVU with 26 wins out of 37 meetings.

Marshall head coach Mitch Jacob said the Herd is looking forward to the match.

"It will never be anything but one of the most important matches on our schedule each year," Jacobs said.

Marshall is coming into the match up having won seven of its last eight. The Herd won the East Carolina Classic over the weekend defeating Conference-USA foe East Carolina, Grambling State and Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Tickets to the Marshall/WVU match are available at the Charleston Civic Center and are $2 for students and $5 for adults.
