Marshall Women's Soccer Hosts Delaware State

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall Thundering Herd plays host to the Delaware State Hornets on Monday at 4 p.m. at Sam Hood Field.

The Herd (3-3-1) is coming off of a 4-0 win over Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 20. Kassie Hollman tallied her first career hat-trick in the victory, while Julia Axelsson registered the fourth goal. Assists on the four goals were spread amongst three Marshall players, Sara Burdick, Axelsson and Tracy Fischer.

On Sept. 22 Marshall's match with Morehead State was cancelled due to poor weather conditions.

The Hornets (2-5-0) defeated Goldy Beacome College, 2-0, on Sept. 20 then fell to Molloy College 2-0 on Sept. 23. Marshall and Delaware State have one opponent in common during the 2006 season, St. Peter's College. The Herd defeated St. Peter's on Aug. 27 by a score of 6-0. The Hornets fell to the Peahens 2-1 on Sept. 15.

Delaware State is a member of the United Soccer Conference. Other teams in the USC include Howard, IPFW, Longwood, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, SC State and Utah Valley State.

Following the match with Delaware State, Marshall will go on a two game road swing to open Conference USA play at UAB on Sept. 29 followed by a match at Memphis on Oct. 1.
