TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa's combination of Julia Silva and Kassiana Urnau led the Golden Hurricane to a 3-1 (30-26, 30-32, 31-29, 30-23) victory over the Marshall Thundering Herd on Friday night.
The duo scored double-doubles for Tulsa (17-3, 4-0 C-USA) in the Golden Hurricane's first win over the Herd (10-8, 2-2 C-USA). Urnau was also tied for the match-high of 20 kills.
Herd head coach Mitch Jacobs said Tulsa played a great match.
Marshall's Kelly-Anne Billingy recorded 20 kills along with 13 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. Leading the Herd with seven blocks was Chelsea Lazar who also boasted an attack percentage of .348.
Jacobs said his team needs concentrate on its upcoming match with another Conference USA opponent.
"This team needs to learn how to put this match behind them," he said. "We need to get ready for SMU because any win we can get on the road in the conference is going to be a bonus."
The Herd will be taking to the court of Moody Coliseum for Sunday's match with SMU in Dallas. First serve will be at 2 p.m. EDT and is available on GameTracker at www.HerdZone.com.
