Marshall Tennis Opens Season Against Eastern Michigan, Morehead State

HUNTINGTON - The Marshall Thundering Herd tennis team is ready to begin the 2007 spring season with a pair of matches against the Eastern Michigan Eagles and Morehead State Eagles on Friday at the Huntington Tennis Club.

The Herd will begin with Eastern Michigan at 1 p.m. and will be followed by Morehead State at 6 p.m. Marshall owns the lead in both series all-time with a 10-6 record against EMU and 4-0 against Morehead State.

Marshall is coming into the pair of matches with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's No. 60 national ranking and third in the East region. Leading the Herd is sophomore Kellie Schmitt who is No. 18 in the ITA's singles rankings. In doubles, Schmitt and Lynzee Kever are ranked 35th. Also gracing the ITA's singles rankings is Herd newcomer Thaddea Lock at the No. 94.
