Men's Soccer Settles with 0-0 Tie Against Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Marshall University men's soccer team drew a 0-0 tie against non-conference host Liberty, Saturday afternoon at Liberty Soccer Field.
With the tie, Marshall now has an overall record of 7-3-1 and remained 1-0-0 in Conference USA, while Liberty's record is 6-2-2.
"It was a solid performance by our team after coming off a tough weekend," Marshall Head Coach Bob Gray said.
Junior goalkeeper Craig Ratanamorn earned his second shutout of his Marshall career and lowered his C-USA leading goals against average to .51. The Wichita, Kan., native has 32 saves in six games.
The Herd managed eight shots on offense with only two on goal, while Liberty created 19 chances with only five shots on goal. Seniors Jeff Lenix and Jermaine Johnson paced the Herd with two shots each.
Marshall is off to its best start since the 2001 season, when the Herd began with a 9-1 record. The all-time series with the Flame is 3-1-1 in favor of Liberty.
The Herd now prepares for next weekends C-USA home opener against No. 11 SMU, Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
