HUNTINGTON - Marshall head coach Mitch Jacobs announced the addition of Martinsburg High School standout Rachel Hull to the Thundering Herd volleyball team.

Hull, a 2006 WVRSN and West Virginia AAA all-state first team member, was one of the most productive outside hitters in the state. In her senior season she averaged 4.68 kills per game and 4.19 digs per game.

Jacobs said the addition of the 6-foot-1-inch outside hitter would bring added height and depth to the Herd.

"Rachel is a strong outside attacker," he said. "She brings a heavy ball being 6-1 or 6-2 and gives us more height out on the pins. I felt that Rachel was the most prolific senior in the state as far as kills go. It's great we can keep a player at home who wants to go to Marshall. We look for her to make great strides throughout her first season."

Hull joins South Bend, Ind., setter Elizabeth Fleming and Overland Park, Kan., middle blocker Kelley Bugler as Herd newcomers for 2007.
