Men's Golf To Compete At 38th Annual Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Thundering Herd men's golf team will compete at the 38th Annual Furman Intercollegiate beginning this Friday at the Furman University Golf Course. The Herd begins the three-day, 54-hole event with an 11:50 a.m. tee time on hole number ten Friday morning.
The Furman Golf Course is laid out at 6,825 yards, with a par of 72 for the annual collegiate tournament. The list of past individual winners at the Furman Intercollegiate includes Curtis Strange, Jay Haas, Mark Calcavecchia, Brad Faxon of Furman, Billy Andrade, David Duval and Matt Kuchar.
The 2007 tournament features 20 teams, including defending champion Maryland. Other competing schools are Appalachian State, Charleston Southern, Davidson, East Carolina, Elon, Francis Marion, Furman, Iowa, Jacksonville, Marshall, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, Old Dominion, Rhode Island, Samford, Virginia Tech, Western Carolina, Winthrop and Wofford.
Competing for the Thundering Herd at this weekend's tournament is Christian Brand (Charleston, W.Va.), Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine), Jonathan Pepe (McKeesport, Pa.), Trent Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.), and Chris Tipper (Parkersburg, W.Va.).
Tee times in the 38th annual Furman Intercollegiate begin at 8 a.m. all three days.
