DADE CITY, Fla. - Freshman Christian Brand (Charleston, W.Va.) led the Herd contingent at the USF Invitational this weekend, ending the tournament in a tie for 13th place with a score of 219 (73-72-74). As a team, Marshall ended the 17-team event in 13th place with a team total of 910 (313-299-298).
Middle Tennessee State claimed the team title of the 54-hole tournament with an 869 (288-292-289). Mike Van Sickle of Marquette University won medalist honors with a 213 (71-71-71).
Other Herd finishers this weekend were Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine), who fired a 224 (78-73-73, T-28), Jonathan Pepe (McKeesport, Pa.), who shot a 227 (77-76-74, T-42), Nathan Kinker (Barboursville, W.Va.), who shot 245 (90-78-77, T-85), and Andy Foster (Vinton, Va.), who also ended the tournament with a 245 (85-78-82, T-85).
Marshall returns to the course on March 10-11 at the Mission Inn Invitational in Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla.
