Women's Tennis Hosts Final Two Home Matches On Saturday

HUNTINGTON - The Thundering Herd women's tennis team will take on Pittsburgh and Cincinnati in their last two home matches of 2007 on Saturday at the Huntington Tennis Club in Barboursville. The match with the Panthers begins at 10 a.m., and the showdown with the Bearcats starts at 1 p.m.
The Herd (12-9) enters the match at #60 in the ITA/FILA Rankings, five spots higher than last week's ranking of #65. Pittsburgh enters the match at 10-3, while Cincinnati comes in with a 9-5 record.
Marshall #1 player Kellie Schmitt (Pittsburgh, Pa.) enters the match ranked 67th in the ITA/FILA rankings for singles players, and could officially tie the Marshall single season victory mark with a win on Saturday. Currently the sophomore stands at 32 for the fall and spring season, which is second all-time. Former Herd great Anna Mitina holds the top spot with 33 victories, which she set in 2000.
