Ian O'Connor Awarded C-USA Postgraduate Scholarship

IRVING, Texas - Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowksy named the 12 recipients of the Postgraduate Scholarship Awards Thursday and Marshall University's Ian O'Connor is among the winners. The conference annually presents the $4,000 Postgraduate Scholarship awards to graduates as selected by the Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by the Board of Directors.
O'Connor is the second Thundering Herd football student-athlete to earn this honor. Last year, Jeff Mullins was awarded a postgraduate scholarship and he is currently attending medical school at Marshall.
O'Connor won four varsity letters for the Thundering Herd and was a two-time selection to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. The Knoxville, Tenn., native earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and will attend veterinary school at the University of Tennessee.

Conference USA (C-USA) is a NCAA Division I-A Conference based in Irving, Texas. Its membership consists of 12 schools - East Carolina University, University of Houston, Marshall University, University of Memphis, Rice University, Southern Methodist University (SMU), University of Southern Mississippi, Tulane University, University of Tulsa, University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), University of Central Florida (UCF) and University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). This realignment was formed on July 1, 2005, and the Conference was first established in 1995. C-USA offers 19 sports total, nine sports for men (baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis and indoor and outdoor track and field) and 10 for women (basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and field and volleyball).
