Marshall Wins Four C-USA Sport Academic Awards

IRVING, Texas - The Marshall women's golf, men's cross country, men's soccer and women's swimming and diving teams were the recipients of the Conference USA Sport Academic Award, given to the team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest grade point average for the current academic year, the league office announced today.
The Thundering Herd women's golf team shared the women's golf award with Memphis while posting the highest annual GPA of any athletic team with a 3.61 GPA. The men's cross country team claimed the award with a 3.25 GPA, the men's soccer team posted a 3.32 GPA and the women's swimming and diving team registered a 3.42 GPA.
Marshall is one of four schools in C-USA to win the award in multiple sports. Rice, which collected the C-USA Institutional Excellence Award, given to the school with the highest GPA for all student-athletes, combined for seven Sport Academic Awards. The Herd's four awards ranked second behind the Owls. East Carolina was third with three awards.
