HUNTINGTON - Marshall head men's golf coach Joe Feaganes has announced the men's golf schedule for 2007-08. Feaganes, who is entering his 36th year as coach of the Herd, has put together another outstanding schedule.
"Yes, this year's schedule is really good, and as usual, we will be competing against some of the top teams in the country," said Feaganes.
The fall season tees off with the Mid-Pines Intercollegiate on September 10-11 in Pinehurst, N.C., a tournament the Herd has played in for the past several years, and ends in mid-October with a new event on the schedule - the Belmont Fall Shootout at the Nashville Athletic Club.
The winter/spring season opens with the traditional trip to San Antonio, Texas, for the Roadrunner Intercollegiate on February 18-19. The next week, the Herd is in Hilton Head, S.C., for the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate, another new event on the schedule. Then in mid-March Marshall will travel to Aiken, S.C., for the Palmetto Intercollegiate, yet another new tournament on the Herd's always tough schedule.
Sandwiched between the Palmetto Intercollegiate and the C-USA Championship are traditional stops at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, the Furman Intercollegiate, the Marshall Invitational (April 4-5), and Ohio State's Kepler Intercollegiate. The Conference USA Championships will once again be held in Texarkana, Arkansas, at the Texarkana Country Club. That 54-hole event is scheduled for April 20-22.
