HUNTINGTON - The Marshall swimming and diving team posted a dominant performance Saturday, beating Radford 185-79 to even the squad's overall record to 2-2.
"I though we made some improvements from last week," Marshall head coach Leonard Kraus said. "Our relays were pretty good and our swimmers were a little bit better than last week. I though our diving was great once again especially in the three-meter."
Marshall swept the competition, recording top finishes in all 16 events.
Siobhan Schuurman was tops again for Marshall on the boards, sweeping the one-meter and three-meter events. Senior Rachel Hannum finished second in both events and scored a 227.33 in the three-meter to improve by more than twenty points over her mark from last week.
Kyla Jungclaus claimed a win in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.13. The Brownstown, Indiana native also finished first as the anchor leg of the 200-yard medley relay, which clocked in at 1:53.56.
Reining Conference USA Newcomer of the Year Jenny Johnsson finished first in both the 100-yard backstroke and 400-yad IM, recording times of 1:01.97 and 4:38.74 respectively.
Freshman Liz Greenway turned in a stellar performance coming away with wins in the 100, 500 and 1000-yard freestyle.
Freshman Megan Demeter also had a big performance, finishing second-place in both the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events.
"I though Megan Demeter looked really nice again in this meet," Kraus said. "Hopefully our freshmen can continue to step up and contribute."
Marshall will host its third consecutive home meet Friday when it faces Youngstown State at 5 p.m.
"We definitely made some steps overall," Kraus said. "I just hope that we can keep progressing and continue to get better next week."
