FINDLAY, Ohio - The Marshall University women's track team opened the 2009 indoor season this past weekend at the Oilers Open hosted by the University of Findlay.

Junior Andrea Jackson (Sumter, S.C.) took the top spot among student-athletes with a second place finish in the triple jump event with a mark of 37-07.25 feet.

Jackson, who is coming off a 2008 outdoor campaign which saw her qualify for NCAA regionals, also finished fifth in the long jump (16-10.75).

Freshman Rachel Coaxum (Catlett, Va.) started her Thundering Herd career with a fifth place finish in the 60-meter hurdle (9.24).

Coaxum's classmate Delkira Maybin clocked a time of 26.92 in the 200-meter which was good enough for a sixth place finish.

Women's track will continue with the indoor season Friday January 16, 2009 when they will compete in the Kentucky Invitational.
