Lara Check Closes Historic Herd Career With 16th Place Finish in East Region

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Marshall Track & Field senior Lara Check closed her historic Marshall Track & Field career with a 16th place finish in the NCAA East Region in Long Jump, the highest by a Herd athlete in any event since 2014.Â
The Herd's senior from Sydney, Australia jumped 6.10m en route to her 16th place finish Wednesday. The Top-12 in the event qualify for the NCAA National Championship Finals in Eugene, Oregon next month, ending Check's illustrious four-year career. Â

Check finishes her Herd career as a two-time SBC Champion, a two-time NCAA First Round qualifier, and a three-time All-Conference jumper. She leaves Marshall as the Indoor Long Jump school record holder.Â
Day three for the Herd starts at 2 p.m. Friday with sophomore Ryan Muktar in High Jump. The trio of Cam Hamby, Otenidi Omot, and Trashaun Smith will compete in Triple Jump starting at 6 p.m.
