Blankenship Highlights Asics/Winthrop Invitational With NCAA Qualifying Mark

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Marshall University's Rachel Blankenship threw a NCAA qualifying mark of 47 feet and one and 1/2 inches in the women's shot put to highlight the Asics/Winthrop Invitational, Friday.
The Hurricane, W.Va., native led all Herd competitors with the first place finish. She also placed fourth in the women's hammer with a throw of 154 feet and seven inches.
Britani Keeney's 155 feet and four inches hammer throw was good enough for second place at the invitational, 10 feet behind the first place mark of Charleston South's Jacelyn Davis.
Teammate LaTricia Jones placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 41 feet and 1/4 inches. Jones' sixth place finish in the hammer throw and Rachel Bilek's ninth best throw had four different Herd members in the top 10 for the event.
