Thundering Herd Soccer Looks for Fourth Consecutive Win Wednesday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University men's soccer team tries to stretch its winning streak to four games Wednesday night as the Herd steps out of conference to face in-state opponent, the University of Charleston. Kickoff at Sam Hood Field is set for 7 p.m.
MU (6-4-1, 3-0-0 C-USA) is coming off a decisive 4-1 triumph over the SMU Mustangs last Saturday night. Freshman Zach Hunter notched his first collegiate goal while Tom Jackson tallied his second goal, Matt Butler his third, and Dustin Dawes his sixth, which was his league-leading fourth game-winning goal.
Charleston comes into the contest posting a record of 13-2 and ranks 15th nationally in Division II. The Golden Eagles are coming off a 7-0 trouncing of Salem International University last Sunday. On the season, UC has netted an impressive 43 goals, while allowing just eight. They have blanked their last seven opponents.
Charleston has the advantage in the all-time series over the Thundering Herd by a mark of 8-3. However, this will be the first time the two sides have met since the year 2000, in which MU was victorious 2-0.
