PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The Marshall University men's cross country team finished 18th at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals on Saturday afternoon, hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

With his 25th place finish in the men's 10K course, sophomore Matt Schiffbauer became the first Marshall University cross country runner in program history to earn All-Region II honors. MU became members of region II in 1997.

The Morgantown native was the top MU runner in all seven races this season. Prior to the Mid-Atlantic Regional, Schiffbauer placed in the top-10 at every meet.

Junior Eric Frohnapfel was the second Marshall racer to cross the line, while David Caldwell was third. Chris Cole and Josh Feather rounded out the top-five.

The future looks bright for the Marshall men's cross country team as they return every runner from this year's squad for the 2010 season.
