HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University men's soccer team wraps up the regular-season Saturday night with a match against the UAB Blazers on Senior Night at Sam Hood Field.
The contest could possibly decide who will host the Conference USA tournament next weekend. With a Tulsa loss or tie against Central Florida, the winner of the MU-UAB match will earn host honors.
The Blazers (12-3-1, 5-1-1 C-USA) sit one point ahead of the Herd (9-6-1, 5-2-0 C-USA) with Tulsa as each team has 16 points. Marshall looks to improve on its best C-USA record since joining the conference in 2005. MU's previous highest conference win total was four in its inaugural C-USA season.
A win on Saturday would also give Marshall its thirteenth 10-win season in program history and its ninth under head coach Bob Gray.
Five seniors play their final regular-season match at Sam Hood Field on Saturday. Forward Michael Bolt, midfielder Dustin Dawes, defender Matt Dickerson, midfielder JD Kepler, and goalie Greg Walter will be honored, along with their parents, prior to kickoff.
Dickerson will be inactive for the contest as he is serving a one game mandatory suspension due to accumulating five yellow cards throughout the season.
Kickoff between the Herd and the Blazers is set for 7 p.m. The first 100 fans in attendance will receive a free "We Are Marshall" poster. Marshall soccer would also like to invite any past campers to the match for Camper Reunion Night.
