HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University women's soccer head coach Kevin Long announced the commitment of six student-athletes to the fall 2009 line-up.
The class of six student-athletes make up Coach Long's first recruiting class at Marshall. The players hail from four different states including Texas, Ohio, Kentucky and two West Virginia natives. The position breakdown includes three midfielders, a forward and a defender.
"Overall, we are very excited about the 2013 class," Coach Long said. "They will make impacts in all areas of the field, and immediately will make their presence known."
The Thundering Herd welcomed to the spring line-up Christchurch, New Zealand native Annabelle Bramwell who will bring an impact to the midfield. Bramwell, also known as Bella, graduated from the Diocesan School for Girls in 2007 with the honor of the 2007 Deputy Head Girl.
"In addition the impact on the field, I am very pleased that we will be bringing players onto the program that I think are natural fits for the team and campus as a whole," Coach Long added. "They are all as gifted in the classroom as they are on the field, and I can't wait to have them here."

#23 Molly Harrington
5-10" - Midfielder - Huntington, W.Va./ Huntington High School
High School: Harrington was a four-year starter at Huntington High School...selected to the 2008 all-conference first team ...also participated in track and earned all-conference honorable mention honors in both 2006 and 2007...participated in the 2008 West Virginia state track meet and took fourth place in the 400m dash..member of the 2005 Mountain State Athletic Conference (MSAC) championship track team.
Personal: Harrington is the daughter of David and Mary Pat Harrington...has two sisters, Shelly (17) and Maggie (21), who is enrolled at Marshall.
Coach Long on Harrington's assets to the team, "A local talent, Molly will bring great pace, size and vision to a wide variety of possible positions. We aren't sure exactly where Molly will help us the most, but she loves to attack, has great technical ability and will be very difficult for our opponents to match up with pace and size. We predominantly see her fitting in as an attacking midfielder, but will also see whether she can make a greater impact on the defensive side of the ball."
#21 Chelsey Maiden
5'6" - Forward - Vienna, W.Va. / Parkersburg High School
High School: Maiden attended Parkersburg High School for three years and was a two-time state runner-up and 2006 state champion...in her final season, she had seven assists, 12 goals, and was honored with second team all-state, second team all-conference and the Outstanding Offensive Player Award...Maiden notched 13 assists and 14 goals during her 2007 season...she was honored with first team all-state, first team all-conference, and the coach's hustle award for 2007...during her 2006 season, she notched 17 assists and leading scorer with 26 goals... selected to the 2006 honorable mention all-state squad and honored with the Top Gun (most goals and assists) accolade...Maiden tallied seven assists and 12 goals as a starter in 2005...member of the 2005 state runner-up squad...Maiden earned the honors of outstanding offensive player for the 2005 season...also was a National Honor Society member, student council representative, senior women's club vice president, and four year member of the West Virginia ODP..Maiden was a region I pool player for two years and started the Breast Cancer Awareness Powder Puff football game at Parkersburg High School.
Personal: Daughter of Leslie Maiden and Fred Maiden...has two siblings, sister Lauren (20) who is enrolled at West Virginia University and brother, Jeff (28), who is a WVU alumni...father ran cross country for Marshall...her goal is to do everything to benefit and help the team in her first season.
Coach Long on Maiden, "Another WV native, Chelsey brings a wide range of experiences to the Marshall field. I love the way that Chelsey competes - she is constantly fighting for the ball defensively, and with the ball at her feet, she consistently is attacking to goal. She brings good pace, and a real attacking attitude that can be useful either up front, or in the back."
#15 Ariel Marder
Midfielder - Plano, Texas
High School: Marder played for the Plano West Lady Wolves...played five years with the Sting Royal Soccer Club...helped the Sting Royal win the North Texas State Cup, Disney Championship, Region III semi-finalist in 2005...also was an ODP regional pool player in 2003...currently plays for the Dallas Texans Red...consistently placed on the honor roll...member of the National Honor Society and won the honor award in Geometry as a sophomore.
Personal: Marder is the daughter of Beth and Charles Marder...she plans to pursue a degree in pre-medicine.
Coach Long regarding Maiden's abilities, "I really like how composed Ariel is on the ball. She has great vision and is a very accurate passer. I look for her to direct play from the midfield, making an impact as an attacking link from the backs to our forwards. She should be very dangerous with her ability to spring players into the attack."
#9 Robin Waskowski
5'6" - Midfielder - Strongsville, Ohio / Strongsville High School
High School: Waskowski played four years for the Strongsville varsity soccer team and was a member of the 2005 Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division I State Championship team, OHSAA 2006 Division I District Finalists team, and OHSAA Division I State Finalists team in 2007...varsity team captain in 2008...she was named to the Ohio All-Academic Team in 2007 and 2008, All-Cleveland Honorable Mention 2008 team, Northeast Ohio All-Conference 2008 First Team, Sun News All-Sun Team in 2007 and 2008, and the 2008 National Rock-n-Roll Invitational Second team...Waskowski earned her Strongsville four-year varsity letter and team captain honor in 2008...selected as Strongsville High School's Best Midfielder and Best Playmaker awards in 2007 and 2008...member of the Cleveland Internationals team for 10 years and selected as team captain for eight years...just recently, the Internationals were named as the 24th best girls soccer club program in the nation by Soccer America...with the Internationals she was a participant of the 2003, 2005 and 2006 Ohio State Cup Champions, the 2005 US Club State Champion and a USL SYL National Finalist, and a 2004 and 2007 member of the USL SYL National Champions team...ODP Regional Team member/SYL National camp 2005-2007 in Cocoa Beach, Fla. ...ODP Ohio State 2004 and 2005 member...National Honor Society member in both 2004 and 2005...Presidential Academic Achievement Award winner...four-year German Club member (2004-2008)...recipient of the 2003 and 2004 Outstanding Athlete Award...three-time Outstanding Citizenship Award (2006-2008)...earned most assists during the 2005 Super Y League season...seven year reign as a student council representative (2001-2007)...Waskowski left a school record with a time of 2:27 in the 800m run...also has a course record at the Wadsworth Bear Cub Run with 2.2 miles ran in 11:57.
Personal: Waskowski is the daughter of Randolph and Jamie Waskowski...Strongsville High School girls soccer team is currently ranked eighth in the nation and was awarded with the 2008 High School team of the Year for work in the classroom, community, and on the soccer field.
Coach Long on Waskowki's skills, "Traditionally plays in the midfield. She is very smooth on the ball and is quite elusive on the dribble. I look for her to be very dangerous attacking out of the midfield both with the ball at her feet, or through a very well developed passing ability. Robin is a crafty player and poses as an offensive threat each time with the ball."
#12 Blair Schneider
Midfielder - Lexington, Ky. / Lexington Catholic High School
High School: Schneider was a three-year starter for the Lexington Catholic High School varsity soccer team...as a sophomore, started at center midfielder for the team that won district, regional, sectional championships and reached the state semi-finals...honored with the Best Center-Midfielder, Leadership Award, and Sharon Borgese Award in 2008...three-time recipient of the First Team Academic All-State award (2007-2009)...Region II ODP state team member for seven years and named captain...seven-year member of the Lexington Futbol Club Premier and named captain...2006 Tampa Bay Sun Bowl Champion...member of the Classics Hammer FC in both 2008 and 2009...four-year student council vice president...participant in the Beta, Spanish, and Latin Clubs...Spanish Honors Society, Presidential Leadership and Concert Choir member.
Personal: Schneider helped rewrite the Lexington Catholic High School Constitution.
Coach Long on Schneider, "A holding midfielder, Blair has a great touch on the ball, and constantly finds herself in positions to help her teammates off the ball. Defensively, Blair will be instrumental in organizing our midfield and has an uncanny ability to read the game."
#2 Sarah Vinson Defender - Amelia, Ohio / Amelia High School
High School: Vinson was a four year player for the Amelia High School varsity team...named the 2008 conference player of the year...four-year first team all-conference recipient...selected to the 2008 all-city soccer team and Cincinnati Enquirer All-Star Team...honored with Amelia High School's 2008 Most Valuable Player...2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas High School All-America Soccer team...two-year captain...2007 all-city honorable mention honoree...three-year all-city academic award in soccer...four-year all-conference academic award for soccer...member of the Ohio Elite Soccer Academy...member of six consecutive OSYSA State Cup championships...won the 2005 USYS Regionals...participant of the 2005 USDYS Nationals team...won the US Club Regionals in 2007...the Ohio Elite has been ranked as high as No. 1 in the nation by Nationalsoccerranking.com and Gotsoccer.com.
Personal: Vinson is the daughter of Todd Vinson.
Coach Long on Vinson's talents, "We will look for Sarah to solidify us in the back. She is a strong, physical player who is very difficult to play against. We hope that she will help solidify our back line with her strong tackling and ball winning ability. Additionally, we look for her to demonstrate an attacking vision and tremendous distributions."
