Marshall Men's Golf Team Concludes Play at Pinehurst

Pinehurst, N.C. - Marshall University's Christian Brand, a junior from Charleston, recorded rounds of 73, 75 and 76 for a three day total of 224 to lead the Thundering Herd men's golf team at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate that concluded Monday.
Brand's performance put him in a tie for 40th overall in a highly competitive field. Medalist honors went to Penn State's T.J. Howe who finished the tournament with a 209 (-7). Howe's stellar performance pushed the Nittany Lions past second place Virginia Tech. Penn State won the team title with a two-under par 862, while the Hokies recorded a three-over par 867.
The Thundering Herd struggled and finished last among the 20 teams in the field. Senior Nathan Kinker from Barboursville shot a three-round total of 228, while freshman Ryan Brookshire shot a 232. Carson Schambach recorded a 237 and Bennet Boyer shot a 247.
