HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University men's soccer team takes the pitch on Saturday night after a six day lay off as they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, and square off with the Xavier Musketeers of the Atlantic 10. Kickoff at the Xavier University Soccer Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Herd (3-3-1, 1-0 C-USA) is coming off an impressive week where they finished 2-0, defeating Ohio Valley University 3-0 at home, and upending No. 22 Kentucky 1-0 in Lexington.

Senior Dustin Dawes leads the offensive charge for the Thundering Herd into Cincinnati. Dawes is tied for second in Conference USA with four goals, and also tied for second in game-winning goals with two. His eight points on the season ranks him seventh in C-USA.

Defensively, Marshall is anchored by goalie and reigning C-USA Defensive Player of the Week, Daniel Withrow. The freshman ranks third in the conference with a 0.71 goals-against average, and is second in save percentage at .842.

In front of Withrow, senior Matt Dickerson and junior Kendall Sutton lead the defensive line.

Xavier is still in search of its first win of the season and posts a record of 0-3-1. The Musketeers have allowed nine goals on the season, while just tallying three on offense.

The winning team on Saturday night will claim the lead in the all-time series, as each side has registered three wins. The two teams played to a 2-2 draw in 1991.

Prior to the contest, the Big Green Scholarship Foundation will be hosting a tailgate party for MU alums, family and friends. Festivities start at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Noel Hughes, Assistant Director of Athletic Development at hugheska@marshall.edu.
