ANN ARBOR, Mich.- The Marshall University men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the Wolverine at Radrick Farms, hosted by the University of Michigan. MU, who was one of 14 teams in the field, shot a 12-over-par 588 team total on Saturday.

Bennett Boyer led the Herd with a second-place finish in the opening round, shooting three-under-par (69). Boyer was just one stroke behind leader Ethan Tracy of Arkansas (68), and finished the round with five birdies.

After the second round of play, Boyer continued to pace the Herd with a second-place finish on the day. He finished Saturday seven-under-par and ranked second (69, 68: 137) behind Lion Kim of Michigan (136).

In the first round, the second-highest MU finishers were Nathan Kerns and Bosten Miller, who tied for 33rd after collecting a 74. Carson Schambach and Dustin Cutlip completed the round chipping in at 78 and 79, respectively.

"We got solid play from Boyer and Kerns," head coach Joe Feaganes said. "We just need a few lower numbers from the rest of the team."

With the conclusion of the day, Kerns is tied for 12th (74, 69: 143) shooting one-under-par. Schambach (78, 76: 154), Miller (74, 80: 154) and Cutlip (79, 87: 166) all finished in the bottom 50 of the pack.

Boyer left the course Saturday tied for a tournament-best 12 birdies, while Kerns tied for a fifth-best eight birdies.

"The weather conditions were perfect and the course was in great shape," said Feaganes. "We will tee it up tomorrow and see what we can do to improve as a team."

Play will resume Sunday as the final round (18) begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. at the Radrick Farms Golf Course.
