Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 to the Tigers

MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Marshall's Lexa Hughes (Everett, Wash.) snagged eight saves but two first half goals proved to be too much for the Herd as it fell 2-0 to Memphis is Sunday afternoons Conference USA women's soccer match at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.
The Thundering Herd drops to 4-7-2, 2-4 C-USA after losing its third consecutive match, while the defending C-USA tournament champion Tigers improve to 10-3-1, 4-1-1 C-USA.
Memphis jumped out to an early lead, as Ashley Berra netted her third goal of the season in just the 6th minute. Rasheeda Ansari and Christabel Oduro combined for assists on the play.
The Tigers struck again at the 12:10 mark, Ansari rebounded a Laura Laufenberg shot and placed a shot into the fall back corner for her fourth goal of the season.
Erika Duncan and Erin Blakely each tallied a team-high two shots.
Memphis out shot the Herd 21-6 on the afternoon.
The Thundering Herd returns to action on Friday, Oct. 15 when it travels to Houston to take on Rice.
