HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The senior trio of Kelley Bugler, Elizabeth Herman and Elizabeth Fleming helped guide the Marshall University volleyball team to a three-game sweep of East Carolina, 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-11) in the 2010 season finale and senior night at the Cam Henderson Center on Saturday evening.

"Losing on Wednesday was heart breaking, especially because we were so flat and then we started playing real well towards the end of the match," head coach Mitch Jacobs said. "Tonight we started out flat again and we weren't going to let that happen. We have been a little Jekyll and Hyde-ish, that is just the way it is with so many young kids."

Elizabeth Herman, a native of Dunwoody, Ga., posted a match-high 14 kills, along with seven total blocks en route to an 18-point performance in her final match. She also registered a .429 (14K-2E-28TA) hitting clip to up the Thundering Herd's record to 12-20 overall and 6-14 in Conference USA play.

Classmate Elizabeth Fleming, who hails from South Bend, Ind., recorded her 16th double-double of her senior year, dishing out a match-best 26 assists and corralling a match-high 14 digs.

Fellow senior Kelley Bugler connected for a .462 hitting percentage, a match-high, slamming home six kills on 13 total attacks with no miscues. The Kansas City, Mo., native added five block assists to her stat line to help propel the Herd past the Pirates.

"Kelley Bugler was fantastic tonight. What a great way to go out to go out on senior night," Jacobs said. "Liz Fleming setting the ball 25 feet behind her to make sure Herman got that final swing (of the match) was just great to see."

Ryanne Milligan, Dorothy Rahal and Lanti Cole helped anchor the defensive side of the court, recording 12, 11 and nine digs, respectively.

On the night, Marshall registered a .282 attacking percentage, including a .417 clip in the third set to secure the victory.

"I am proud of the team, proud that we came back and we have a great future in front of us with these young players," Jacobs said.

East Carolina (2-30, 1-19 C-USA) was led by senior Marina Gusman-Brown who posted a team-best 13 digs for the Pirates. Amanda Lutzow chipped in with 11 digs, while Shelby Beasley contributed nine.
