Fleming Named ESPN Academic All-American Second Team Recipient

TOWSON, Md. - For the second-straight year, Marshall volleyball player Elizabeth Fleming was honored for her academic and athletic success on the court by being named to the ESPN Academic All-American Second Team as announced by CoSIDA on Tuesday.
The senior student-athlete maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during her four years at Marshall, while majoring in International Affairs. She is a member of the Yeager Scholar Honors Program, a grueling academic program that asks its members to go above and beyond what is asked of a normal student. Fleming was also named to the Conference USA All-Academic team for the third time earlier this month.
"Liz has been an important person for this program both on the court and in the classroom," head coach Mitch Jacobs said. "She gives 100 percent of herself to all areas she commits to and she is a star on the academic side of campus. She truly has built her own bridges during her time here at Marshall and I think I can speak for all that have had the privilege to work with her that she will be truly missed."
On the court, Fleming also excelled as the starting setter for the Thundering Herd volleyball squad. She finished her four-year career with 5,235 assists and 1,019 digs. Her assist total ranks third all-time at Marshall and fifth in C-USA history.
By Fleming being honored for her academic success it marks the fifth time a player has earned Academic All-American status at Marshall, and the fourth time under Jacobs.
