ROCK HILL, S.C.- Marshall University's Andrea Grier (Hagerstown, Md.) shot her lowest round of the tournament on the final day of the Winthrop Intercollegiate to help the Thundering Herd to an eighth place finish in Rock Hill, S.C. on Tuesday afternoon.

Grier shot a 78 in round three and tied for 14th place (82-81-78=241), earning her second top-15 finish in as many tournaments.

Despite a 13-stroke improvement in the third round, the Herd still dropped one spot and finished the tournament with a 1020.

Molly Ginger (Centerville, Ohio) improved nine strokes from her second round action as she posted an 81 in the third round and a 251 overall (80-90-81=251).

Michelle Sabo (Columbus, Ohio) also showed a dramatic improvement throughout the tournament. Sabo and Elin Andersson (Stockholm, Sweden) each shot a 91 in the final round of play to each conclude their first tournament appearances of the spring season.

Larie Lynch (Huntington, W.Va.) did not compete in third round action.

Xavier University and Belmont Abbey College remained tied following three rounds of play and one playoff hole. It took Audrey Fellmeth's winning putt on the second playoff hole to give Xavier the tournament victory.

Winthrop's Rachel Smith won the individual tournament, shooting a tournament-low 73 on Tuesday, to finish at 12-over-par (78-77-73=228).

MU returns to tournament play on April 5-6, when it travels to Farmville, Virginia for the Tina Barrett Longwood Invite.
