Women's Golf Stands in Seventh at the Winthrop Intercollegiate

ROCK HILL, S.C.- The Marshall University women's golf team combined for a 679 and stand in seventh place through two rounds of play at the Winthrop Intercollegiate in Rock Hill, S.C. on Monday afternoon.
Andrea Grier (Hagerstown, Md.) leads the Thundering Herd after two rounds, posting an 81 in the second round and enters the final round tied for 16th place.
The Thundering Herd shot a 325 in the opening 18-holes of the afternoon. However, MU was unable to keep pace and dropped to seventh place following second round action.
Larie Lynch (Huntington, W.Va.) posted a team-low 78 in the first round but was forced to withdraw from second round play.
Molly Ginger (Centerville, Ohio) shot an 80 in the first round and concluded the day with a score of 170.
Elin Andersson (Stockholm, Sweden) sits just four strokes behind Ginger, after posting two rounds in the 80's.
Michelle Sabo (Columbus, Ohio) rounded out the Marshall line-up with a 196 in her first tournament action of the spring season.
Belmont Abbey College sits atop of the leader board with a 632 following day one of play. Three of the 12 tournament teams remain within ten strokes of the leader entering into the final round of play.
Princeton's Anna Jang, the individual leader, posted a tournament-low 74 in the first round, but enjoys just a one-stroke lead over Belmont Abbey's Meagan Wallace.
The final round of play takes place on Tuesday with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
