COLUMBUS, Ohio - For the second consecutive year, the Marshall University men's soccer team heads to Columbus, Ohio, for an exhibition match with the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer Friday morning. The friendly is scheduled for Friday morning.
"It was a great experience for the guys last year and we are looking forward to it again this year," head coach Bob Gray said. "After a week off for spring break, this game is a great way to kick off our busy month of April."
The 2008 MLS Cup Champions defeated the Thundering Herd last year 3-0. Friday's match is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m.
The Herd then travels to Farmville, Va., on Saturday for two additional matches with Longwood University and the College of William & Mary, with play starting at 11 a.m.
The Lancers of Longwood finished the 2009 season with a record of 6-12-2, while William & Mary, members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), finished 2009 at 13-5-1 and lost in the semi-finals of their conference tournament to Northeastern.
After these three matches, the Herd has two games next weekend in West Virginia's capitol as MU hosts Slippery Rock University and the University of the Cumberlands.
