HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University volleyball team recently added defensive specialist Lanti Cole to the 2010 Thundering Herd roster. Cole, an incoming freshman, is one of three student-athletes on the team that hail from the state of West Virginia.

"Lanti brings a great attitude to the program," head coach Mitch Jacobs said. "She is another player from West Virginia that has a great desire to be a part of the Herd. Lanti was one of the premier liberos in the state last season, if not the best at that position."

Cole was a three-year varsity player at Greenbrier East High School in Lewisburg, W.Va. She led the Spartans to a regional championship and state semi-finalist appearance in 2009 and garnered second team all-state recognition and All-MSAC honors, along with being named to the North/South all-star game. She was a two-time captain and named to multiple all-tournament teams during her time at Greenbrier East HS.

In her final year for the Spartans, Cole collected a total of 694 digs, averaging 4.63 per game. For her high school career, she tallied 1,550 career digs while competing in 366 career games. She also connected for 69 aces in her senior campaign.
