Stoehr Named to C-USA Softball All-Academic Team

IRVING, Texas. - The 2010 Conference USA All-Academic Team was announced Thursday morning by the league office, with Melanie Stoehr of Marshall University's softball team earning her first appearance on the team.

Stoehr, a Tacoma, Wash. native, will add to her already impressive resume of academic achievements with the nod on the C-USA All-Academic Team. The junior is majoring in sports management and marketing and sports a 3.85 grade point average.

"Melanie is committed to excellence on and off the field," said head coach Shonda Stanton. "She is a great leader for us and I am pleased to see her receive this recognition."

In 2010, Stoehr was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Team, qualifying her to the national ballot. She also earned her third C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll accolade and C-USA Academic Medalist award. Stoehr is a two-time NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete, receiving the honor in 2009 and 08.

On the field Stoehr concluded the 2010 campaign with 21 runs scored, 33 hits, five doubles, four home runs and a .335 on-base percentage.
