LEXINGTON, Va. - Tom Jackson netted his first goal of the season as the Marshall University men's soccer team tied Liberty 1-1 Friday afternoon in the first match of the Sculley Invitational hosted by VMI.

The Thundering Herd (2-0-2) concludes the tournament on Sunday when MU takes on VMI.

Jackson's goal came in the 65th minute as his shot from 25 yards out hit the right post and found its way into the back of the net. However, the Flames would find the equalizer in the 82 minute when Alex Verville beat Daniel Withrow in the lower left corner.

"We played ok today, but I felt like we had control of the game," head coach Bob Gray said. "We had better chances but they [Liberty] scored a nice goal with seven minutes to go to tie. But at the end of the day we are still undefeated and we will head back there on Sunday and look for a victory."

Sunday's match with the Keydets is set for 3 p.m. and fans can follow live stats by logging on to http://www.vmikeydets.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=9800&SPID=12381&SPSID=100815
