Herd Cross Country Topped by EKU in Opening Meet

RICHMOND, Ky. - Sophomore David Caldwell paced the men's cross country team in the three-mile course and Leslie Thomas led the women's team in the two mile race at the EKU/Marshall relays Saturday morning at the Wood Chip Trails.
Caldwell crossed the line in a time of 14:26 for third place overall and teammate Matt Schiffbauer was just two seconds behind him in fourth. However, EKU defeated the Thundering Herd on the men's side 21-39.
Thomas ran six minute mile splits for an overall time of 12:01 and finished sixth overall. The women's side lost to the Colonels 15-40.
The Thundering Herd has two weeks off before it travels back into the blue grass state to participate in the Old Timers Classic hosted by Western Kentucky.
