HEBRON, Ky. - Sitting in tenth place after day one, the Marshall University men's golf team rallied on day two to finish tied for eighth at the 2011 Bearcat Invitational hosted by the University of Cincinnati at Traditions Golf Club in Hebron, Kentucky. After day one The Herd posted 594 strokes throughout 54 holes, yet came back on day two to tally 291 shots on the final 18 holes.

Bosten Miller redeemed himself after the first round of 77, firing back-to-back scores of 72 and 71, respectively, to help him lead Marshall with a total of 220 swings. Brian Anania and Nathan Kerns solidified the score MU posted, as each tallied 221 strokes. Jeremy Rogers recorded a 73 on both the second and third round to give him 225 shots throughout the competition, and Tas Sipowski posted a score of 230.

At the conclusion of the tournament two players were tied for medalist with a score of 210 strokes (-3); however, it was Brian Dorfman from Georgetown who won the one-hole playoff over David Tepe of Cincinnati with a par on the 10th hole. Austin Peay State came back from third place after day one to win the tournament outright with a final score of 868. The Governors recorded a third round total of 290, as Kentucky and Dayton posted a 299 and 297 on the final day.

Marshall finished tied for eighth with Cincinnati, yet finished only four strokes behind fourth place. The Herd hit the road again next weekend traveling to Skokie, Illinois to finish its fall matches at the Windon Memorial Classic hosted by Northwestern University at Evanston Golf Club on October 16-17.
