Men's Golf Ninth Through Two Rounds at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

Pinehurst, N.C. - Marshall University's men's golf team is in ninth place after shooting a 300 Saturday in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. The Thundering Herd has a two round total of 600 entering Sunday's third and final round.

UNC-Wilmington charged to the front of the 16-team field by firing a second-round 284 to post a two-round total of 585. Virginia Tech sits in second at 586 and Michigan State is third at 590.

Marshall junior Bosten Miller (Charleston, W.Va.) carded a 73 in the second round and entered the clubhouse with a two-round 144 (+2) to remain in contention. Miller is three strokes back of the tournament leader, Eastern Michigan's Casey Olsen who has posted a two-under par 141, and is tied for sixth overall.

The Thundering Herd's Brian Anania (Fr., Hurricane, W.Va.) fired the low round of the day for the Herd with a one-under 71 to move up into a tie for 26th overall with a two-day total of 149.

Marshall's Christain Brand (Sr., Charleston, W.Va.) is tied fofr 35th with a two-round total of 150, while Carson Schambach (Jr., Glen Dale, W.Va.) stands at 157 and Nathan Kerns (So., Ironton, Ohio) a 163.

Marshall senior Bennett Boyer (Millersburg, Pa.) is competing as an individual and has a 167 through two rounds.

Saturday's second round was delayed 30 minutes due to frost, however the weather on Pinehurst No. 6 improved overall with milder temperatures and winds.
