Herd Softball Hosts No. 18 Kentucky on Wednesday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University softball team will remain at home as the Thundering Herd hosts 18th-ranked Kentucky on Wednesday at Dot Hicks Field. MU brings a 15-22 record into the doubleheader, which is set for a 3 p.m. start.
Marshall will be challenged by a Wildcat (27-10) offense that features five hitting above a .350 clip, which is topped by Meagan Aull's .387 batting average and 48 hits on the year. Brittany Cervantes is a force to be reckoned with as well with a team-best 37 runs scored, 11 home runs, 38 RBI and a .752 slugging percentage.
In the circle UK is paced by Chanda Bell (10-5) who has a 2.01 ERA in 104.1 innings logged. Her 10.50 strikeouts per seven innings places her at 12th nationally. Bell also rings in at 10th in the country for allowing just 3.76 hits per seven innings.
The Herd remains reigns first nationally in stolen bases per game (2.95), but needs assistance at the dish as the team is hitting .236 collectively. Jazmine Valle and Rebecca Gamby have a best 26 hits each, while Gamby leads the club with 10 home runs and 23 RBI.
