Brand Two Over After One Round

Blacksburg, Va. - Marshall University senior Christian Brand fired a 74 on the first day of the NCAA Regional at Virginia Tech's River Course on Thursday and stands fourth among the regional's 10 individuals heading into Friday's second round.

Brand, a Charleston native, is tied with Dartmouth's Peter Williamson and Campbell's Matt Moot among the individuals. T.J. Howe of Penn State is third in the group with a 73 (+1), Richard Fountain of Davidson is second with a 72 (E), and Vaita Guillaume of Campbell is the early leader among the individual qualifiers with a 71 (-1). The top performing individual at the conclusion of Saturday's third round will advance to the NCAA Championship in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
