Marshall Set for Thursday Showdown at Xavier

CINCINNATI, Ohio- The Marshall University Thundering Herd men's soccer team will travel to Xavier University this Thursday for a 7:00 p.m. showdown with the host Musketeers.

Fresh off a disappointing 0-1 loss to Wright State in the season opener, the Herd will be hoping to open both its 2011 scoring and winning accounts against a Xavier team that it tied 0-0 in last year's season opener.

Marshall lost to Wright State last Friday night when the Raiders converted a second-half penalty kick that condemned the Herd to an 0-1 season start. Xavier, meanwhile, has yet to start its 2011 season, but maintained a solid 2-0-1 record throughout the 2011 preseason.

The Herd is 3-4-2 against the Musketeers in the all-time series.
