ANN ARBOR, Mich.- The Thundering Herd men's soccer team will travel north on Thursday in anticipation of a 5:00 p.m. showdown with the Michigan Wolverines that is set to take place this Friday at the University of Michigan Soccer Stadium.
This game will be the first of two for the Herd on the weekend, as the team will also make the trek to Michigan State on Sunday for a 2:30 p.m. showdown with the Spartans. Marshall enters Friday's contest against the Wolverines with an 0-3 record and a score-sheet that remains blank following the Herd's inability to score through its first three matches.
Michigan, who advanced all the way to the NCAA Championship Semifinals last season, has started 2011 with an 0-4 record following the exodus of some key seniors from last year, and with both the Herd and the Wolverines winless so far this fall, look for both squads to be fighting hard in search of that elusive first victory.
Junior Tom Jackson leads the Herd in shots so far this season with 8, while C-USA Preseason All-Conference goalkeeper Daniel Withrow has 11 saves. For the Wolverines, sophomore Fabio Villas Boas Pereira has tallied the only 2 goals that Michigan has managed to score this season, and goalkeeper Adam Grinwis has 9 saves.
