Men's Golf Hosts 42nd Annual Invitational

Huntington, W.Va. - Marshall University open's its 2011-12 men's golf schedule Monday and Tuesday, September 12 and 13, as it hosts the 42nd annual Marshall Invitational at Guyan Golf and Country Club.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will play host to 14 other teams including: Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Eastern Kentucky, Kentucky, Louisville, Northwestern, Ohio State, Ohio University, Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth, Western Kentucky, William & Mary, Wright State, and Xavier. The schedule calls for 36 holes on Monday with an 8:30 A.M. shotgun start, followed by 18 holes Tuesday beginning at 8 A.M.
The Herd's line-up will include returning lettermen Nathan Kerns (Ironton, Ohio), Bosten Miller (Charleston, W.Va.), and Brian Anania (Hurricane, W.Va.). Alongside them will be freshman Tas Sipowski (Jupiter, Fla.) and sophomore Jeremy Rogers (Buckhannon, W.Va.).
Other Marshall players competing as individuals include Jake Miller (Granville, Ohio) and Carson Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.).
2010 saw Ohio State University crowned as team champion with a score of 820 (273-274-273), as the Buckeyes placed three individual players in the top ten finishers. Sebastian MacLean posted an individual low and tournament record 197 (63-69-65) for Xavier University.
