Women's Soccer Faces Weekend Homestand Against Tulsa, SMU

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall women's soccer will close out its home schedule this weekend when it welcomes Conference USA foes Tulsa (Friday) and SMU (Sunday).
Friday's match will kick off at 7 p.m. at Cabell Midland High School while Sunday's match - Senior Day - will begin at 1 p.m. at Hurricane High School.
Marshall (6-7-1, 2-3-1 C-USA) was shut out 3-0 in last year's meeting against Tulsa in Oklahoma. The loss brought the all-time series between the two programs to 4-2 in favor of the Golden Hurricane.
Current Tulsa (7-5-2, 2-3-1 C-USA) MF Jordan O'Brien netted the match-winner in the 36th minute and added two more assists later in the day as F Lindsay Kirch scored goals in the 48th and 66th minutes.
O'Brien and Kirch return to Tulsa's roster as part of a unit seeing offensive production from 17 different players. At the head of Tulsa's talented offense is junior F Claire Nicholson. The Overland Park, Kan. native has scored five times and is followed closely by three teammates who have all registered four goals this year.

Marshall trails the all-time series against SMU 4-1, taking its only victory in 2009.
SMU (6-6-2, 2-2-2 C-USA) is led in scoring by sophomore F Shelby Redman and senior F Kenzie Scovill. The pair has tagged opposing teams with six goals apiece this season and ranks in a fifth-place tie among the C-USA scoring leaders.
Marshall enters its final home weekend boasting a record of 6-7-1 (2-3-1 Conference USA). The Herd attack is led by senior Chelsey Maiden and freshman Erin Simmons who have each found the net six times in 2012.
