IRVING, Texas -- Sarah Vinson, a senior for the Marshall women's soccer team, was selected to Conference USA's All-Academic first team for the third consecutive year, announced the league office on Wednesday.

Vinson finished her Thundering Herd career with a cumulative grade-point average of 4.0 while studying pre-dietetics. The straight-A student from Amelia, Ohio was one of only three C-USA competitors this year to garner the first team nod for the third straight time.

Vinson's perfect GPA was matched by only two other seniors - Bailey Pembroke of Memphis and Caitlin Leumas of Southern Miss.

Vinson, who was named to the C-USA all-freshman team in 2009, has already been named to the C-USA all-conference 3rd team (2010) and ESPN's Academic All-District II first team (2010), and she has been listed on the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Role three times while being awarded the C-USA Academic Medal three times.

On the pitch, Vinson started all 19 matches in 2012, capping off a career in which she made starts in a record-setting 76 different games. Vinson is the current Marshall record-holder for match starts (76) and matches played (76). During her career, the midfielder/defender netted eight goals with three assists and helped Marshall post 23 shutouts through four seasons.

The C-USA All-Conference first and second teams were voted on by the league's Sports Information Directors. For the full release, click here.
