HILTON HEAD, S.C.- Senior co-captain Bosten Miller managed a team-best score of 155 through two rounds of action at the Wexford Plantation on Monday, but his 38th place mark did little to help a Marshall University men's golf team that finished day-one tied for 15th out of 17 teams.
The Thundering Herd entered the Wexford Intercollegiate hoping to tee-off the first match of Head Coach Joe Feagane's final season in a positive manner, but instead finds itself trailing 14 other teams with Monday's action having come to an end.
After posting an opening round score of 325 that had the team sitting in last place, the Herd did manage to rally for a round-two score of 307 that propelled the team above last-place Elon, but fell 10 strokes shy of 14th place Ohio.
For the tournament, Marshall (632) has shot 56 over par on the par-72, 6913 yard course, while first place Georgia State shot a 591 that is plus-15 through the first two rounds. DePaul University also shot 56 over and is tied with the Herd in 15th.
Following Miller's team-best score of 155 (82, 73) was junior Nathan Kerns' 55th place score of 158 (80, 78), and freshman Tas Sipowski's 60th place mark of 159 (82, 77).
The team will now look to regroup and refocus its efforts as it prepares to take to the course for Tuesday's third and final round of action.
