HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-Marshall safety Omar Brown signed a free agent deal with the Baltimore Ravens over the weekend.

Brown (Moncks Corner, S.C.), a first-team All-Conference USA selection last year, had 288 career tackles for the Thundering Herd, including a team-high 113 last season. He also amassed 29 career passes defended, nine interceptions (four in 2011), five forced fumbles (four in 2011) and one fumble recovery. One of Brown's biggest plays of the season came in a 59-14 rout of UAB when he picked off a pass and returned it 48 yards for his only career touchdown. He also came up big in the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl win over FIU when he halted a Golden Panther drive with a forced fumble on star wideout T.Y. Hilton with just over four minutes remaining in the contest, preserving MU's three-point lead.

Brown's former teammate, defensive end Vinny Curry, was drafted 59th overall Friday evening by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2012 NFL Draft, becoming the program's 38th all-time pick in the process.
