Herd Finishes Play in Cardinal Intercollegiate

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - Following a long rain delay Marshall men's golf wrapped up play with a 12th place finish at the Cardinal Classic from the par-72 Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky.
The Thundering Herd compiled a team score of 299 Tuesday for a final total of 897 (+33).
Tuesday's top performer for Marshall was Brian Anania who shot an even par 72. Nathan Kerns had a 2-over-par 74 in the final round and was the Herd's top finisher during the tournament with a 220 (+4).
Kerns finished in a tie for 24th, one spot up from his Monday performance. Anania finished 36th, 17 spots better than Monday.
The remainder of coach Matt Grobe's team included Jeremy Rogers, who shot 6-over-par 78 Tuesday to finish with a three round score of 226. Tas Sipowski's 3-over-par Tuesday gave him total score 234, Freshman Logan Lagodich finish the same score of Sipowski after a 9-over-par 79 Tuesday.
Tournament host Louisville was the team winner after posting the day's best score of 288 to move from second to first. Wes Gates of runner-up Bowling Green maintained his Monday lead to claim the individual title with 7-under-par 209.
The Herd returns to the course this weekend at the Miromar Lakes Intercollegiate in Fort Myers, Fla. Action is scheduled to begin on Monday.
