MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Marshall's women's soccer team allowed a season high seven goals Sunday afternoon and fell to the Memphis Tigers 7-1 at Mike Rose Stadium.
It was the most goals surrendered by a Thundering Herd squad since 2007 and dropped MU to 6-6-0 (2-2-0 Conference USA). Memphis remained undefeated in league action and improved to 8-3-0 (4-0-0 C-USA).
Sophomore F Myka DeMarco netted the Herd's only goal in the 42nd minute after the Tigers had already surged into a three goal lead. Freshman Erin Simmons was credited with the assist of the Dallas, Texas native's first collegiate goal.
Tine Schryvers (three), Christabel Oduro, Kaitlyn Atkins, Taylor Isenhower, and Madison Oyer were the goal-scorers for Memphis. Freshman Schryvers opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, added the match-winner 10 minutes later (32'), then completed a hat trick with a meaningless goal in the 83rd minute.
Marshall GK Lindsey Kerns faced 24 shots (13 on goal) and made six saves in the loss. The Herd's offense took seven shots (four on goal).
