HAVE YOU HERD?
The Thundering Herd split its first Conference USA weekend at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex, defeating Old Dominion, 1-0, and falling to UAB, 1-0. The loss versus UAB ended a three-match win streak and a nine-match scoring streak for Marshall. It was also the first time the Herd was shut out all season. Junior forward Myka DeMarco (Dallas) scored the lone goal for Marshall during the weekend on a penalty kick versus Old Dominion. She leads the team with 10 points (4g, 2a).

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Overall, Marshall is 2-1-0 on the road this season. Last time the Herd left Huntington, Marshall picked up its first overtime victory since 2009 with a 1-0 win at Liberty, Sept. 15. The Herd also defeated previously unbeaten Temple, 1-0, in Philadelphia, Sept. 6.

NO GOALS FOR YOU
So far this season, the Herd has tallied six shutouts and are 6-0-0 when allowing zero goals. The team has allowed only six goals in 10 outings, and each of the Herd's six wins are shutouts. With junior goalkeeper Lizzie Kish (Boyertown, Pa.) at the helm, Marshall is tied for first in Conference USA for goals allowed (6), is second for goals against average (0.58) and is tied for third in shutouts (6).

FIRST OUT OF THE GATE
Marshall is 5-1-1 when leading at halftime this season, and 6-1-1 when drawing first blood. The Herd hasn't allowed a goal in the first half all year, outscoring opponents 8-0.

KISH IS A KEEPER
Last week, Marshall junior goalkeeper Lizzie Kish (Boyertown, Pa.) earned Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week honors for her performance against Miami (Ohio). This is her first career C-USA Defensive Player of the Week award. Kish picked up her fifth shutout (second consecutive) in eight games following the Herd's 1-0 defeat of Miami, tallying three saves to snap Miami's 25-match scoring streak, Sunday, Sept. 22.

Kish is the first Marshall player to garner C-USA Defensive Player of the Week honors since goalkeeper Lindsey Kerns earned the title for the week of Oct. 10, 2011. Kish is the third Herd keeper and fourth Marshall player all-time to gain the honors.

SCOUTING THE LADY TECHSTERS
Louisiana Tech is coming off its first Conference USA weekend, falling to both Tulsa (3-0) and North Texas (1-0). Freshman Kathryn Sloan leads the Lady Techsters with 11 points (5g, 1a).

Friday's match marks the first meeting between Marshall and Louisiana Tech.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Southern Miss finished its first Conference USA weekend by drawing with North Texas (1-1, 2OT) and falling to UTEP in overtime (1-0). Senior Danica Roberts leads the Golden Eagle's nationally-ranked scoring offense with a team-high 27 points (12g, 3a). She is currently tied for third in the nation in goals scored this season (12).

Marshall leads the all-time series with Southern Miss, 7-2-0, winning the last five meetings. Last season, the Herd defeated the Golden Eagles, 1-0, in Hattiesburg, Miss.

UP NEXT
Marshall stays on the road, traveling to Greenville, N.C., to take on East Carolina (4-5-2, 1-1-0 C-USA), Sunday, Oct. 13.
