ATLANTA, Ga.-The Marshall softball team dropped games against Indiana and Miami (Ohio) Saturday on the second day of competition at the Georgia Tech Classic.

The Hoosiers defeated the Herd 2-1, while the RedHawks handed Marshall an 8-2 loss.

The Herd is now 2-7 on the season.

First baseman Alysia Hively plated center fielder Ashley Gue as Hively reached on an error in the first inning to put the Herd up 1-0. Marshall hurler Andi Williamson kept the Hoosiers off the board until they registered single runs in the fifth and sixth frames. Williamson went the distance once again, yielding those two tallies on three hits and five walks with eight strikeouts.

Third baseman Jazmine Valle went 2-for-3 at the plate, which included a double in that first inning to allow Gue to advance to third before scoring.

Williamson (2-7) took the loss in the second game as well, as she tossed five and one-thirds innings, with three earned runs on six hits and six walks with five strikeouts. Brittanie Fowler came on in relief and got the last two outs of the contest.

Marshall drew first blood in this game as well as designated hitter Alyssa Cook drove in a pair of runs in the fourth via a single, as Valle and second baseman Bri Anna Hope came home. Miami (Ohio) responded, however, with four in the bottom half of the inning, one in the fifth and three in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Left fielder Kaelynn Greene, Gue, Valle, Cook and shortstop Raquel Escareno had hits in the game, while Greene, Emileigh Cooper, Hope, Alexandra Bayne and right fielder Savanah Webster posted stolen bases.

Marshall will close out its stay in Atlanta with an 11 a.m. game against the RedHawks on Sunday.
