HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's soccer team (4-8-3, 2-4-1) dropped a 1-0 match Saturday to the FIU Golden Panthers (4-8-1, 1-4-0) at Hoops Family Field at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex.
AGAINST THE GOLDEN PANTHERS
Marshall played the defensive side most of the game, locking the Panthers in the middle of the field. Although FIU had seven shots and two corner kicks in the first half, Marshall keep the score tied at zero. The only goal of the game came just 10 minutes after the start of the second period, when FIU's Marivn Haezel was able to beat Marshall goalkeeper Bijan Gloston (Clarksville, Tenn) to a rebound. Marshall did appear to draw even late in the first half but the goal was removed after Jack Hopkins was flagged offside.
THE GRAY AREA
Marshall coachBob Grayon the FIU match:
"We played with a lot of heart but we didn't have a lot of energy today, we were running on empty"
"We don't have a legitimate goal scorer, so we have to do it by committee. Our mindset is to get behind the ball and try to frustrate the other team and then try to counter. It worked against Charlotte but it didn't work today because we lost our legs"
